Our key paper here is Grade Inflation in Irish Universities (1994 – 2004). It reports on a similar analysis
across the seven Irish universities to that described for the Institute of Technology sector. For example, it finds that in 1994 the percentage of first
class honours awarded across the Universities was 7%. By 2005 that figure had jumped to 17%.
In The Consequences of Grade Inflation we consider the effects of grade inflation and the implications for the Irish
educational system. A study of grade disparity across both IoT and Univerity sectors is contained in A Case Study in Grade Disparity: Grade Patterns among BSc in Nursing Graduates. |
